The bikes are back in town.
Ballarat will notice an influx of motorcycle gang members this weekend as part of the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang national Annual General Meeting.
From Saturday, members will ride from Ballarat to Wallace and back before leaving the Ballarat region on Sunday.
The event has forced an increased local police presence, as well as support from the ECHO and VIPER taskforces in Ballarat across the weekend.
Western Region Inspector Bob Heaney assures locals it’s under control.
“I’d just like to reassure the local community here in Ballarat not to be intimidated by the presence of Bandido bike riders in town this weekend. We have a heavy police contingent in town to monitor their activities.”
Heaney says police are here in the event any OMCG commit criminal, road safety or public order offences.
“Unlawful activities will not be tolerated. Victoria Police is not intimidated by OMCGs and we will not allow our communities to be intimidated either” Heaney said.
Anyone with information about OMCG activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
