Werry locks in 3 times as Ballarat’s best athlete

World champion rower Katrina Werry was last time named as Ballarat’s ‘Sportsperson of the Year’ by the Ballarat Sportsmen’s Club.

Werry, who attended Ballarat & Clarendon College was part of the winning world championship 4’s crews in 2017 and 2019 and also rowed in the women’s 8’s at the Tokyo Olympics.

Other names in the senior category included three-time Olympian Kathryn Mitchell, high-jumper Yual Reath, para table tennis champ Rory Carroll, sprinter Cooper Sherman and race-walkers Kelly Ruddick and Alanna Peart.

Werry missed the sold-out dinner last night because of a training camp in NSW.
