A local asbestos remover has issued Ballarat residents a warning about how much of the harmful stuff could be out in the city.
It comes after authorities found asbestos mixed with mulch near playgrounds in Sydney and Melbourne.

“There was a lot of development in Ballarat through the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, so a lot of the older homes contain asbestos,” he said.
“You’ll find it in your cement sheet eaves, in bathrooms behind tiles [and] vinyl flooring in your kitchen. It’s very, very common.”
