With scorching temperatures tipped for much of the state, tomorrow has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Wimmera, South West, North Central, Central and West and South Gippsland districts of Victoria.
No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01am on Saturday until 11:59pm Saturday night.
Ballarat sits in the central district.
36C is forecast for Ballarat on each day of the long weekend.
Meantime, V/Line have announced an extreme heat timetable will run on most lines over the long weekend.
The Ballarat line is included.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36C in order to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
Commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
