The Container Deposit Scheme continues to go from strength to strength in Ballarat with the city now sitting 5th statewide when it comes to the number collected.

Ten cents is paid for every eligible container returned.

Tyrone McCuskey from McCallum / Ballarat Regional Industries who operate two sites, says they’re now looking for more workers in their supported employment scheme to meet demand.

“We are actually looking for a lot more individuals who are interested in coming into employment.”

“We’ve found that we’ve had great interest from the people that we already support in employment, there’s over 220 of those.”

“However, we’d like to see more interest come through our school leavers program etcetera for this work, because everyone who goes into that environment loves it,” Mr. McCuskey said.

The McCallum / BRI collection sites in Ballarat are located at Butt Street Canadian and Neerim Court Mitchell Park.
