Skipton on alert as flood waters ease in Clunes and Creswick

Skipton residents are being urged to get to higher ground as the Mt Emu Creek threatens to inundate the town.

A community meeting was held at midday today to advise locals of a peak of 5.7 metres at some stage this evening

Luckily its better news for the towns of Clunes and Creswick, SES Ballarat Incident Controller Peter Brick says the waters are subsiding.
 
“We’ve been able to downgrade the watch and act messages we had yesterday for that flash flooding that occurred.”
 
“It caused quite a number of streets to be flooded but that is now back to just an advice message.”

“We are just asking people to be aware of any debris that might still be on the roads,” Mr Brick said.
 
Ballarat so far this week has recorded more than 81mm of rain.
