Ripon count now into “recheck”

Despite almost 90% of ballots being counted, and a 2500 vote lead to Labor, the seat of Ripon is yet to be called.

The ALP’s Martha Haylett sitting on 53% two party preferred against Liberal incumbent Louise Staley on 47%.

The VEC says a recheck is taking place for the district.

In 2018, the seat was initially called for Labor, but upon recount Louise Staley won by just 15 votes.
