Lake Wendouree’s “loo with a view” will officially be no more.
An agreement to demolish the underground toilets by the lake was supported to a 5-4 vote by City of Ballarat council members at Wednesday night’s council meeting.
This tight margin despite findings in recent years the toilets do not meet disability or crime prevention standards, and are not particularly popular for public use – feelings dicovered through a council community survey.
The toilets have been out of commission and sitting dormant since 2021.
A permit from Heritage Victoria will be required before demolition works begin.
