The construction of a $1.1 million round-a-bout at a notorious Ballarat West intersection will begin in the next week in a bid to increase safety.
The City of Ballarat says construction at the Ring Road and Gregory Street West site will be ongoing until the end of May, with drivers unable to enter the Ring Road from Ballarat Link Road during the period.
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the works will deliver better and safer roads for motorists.
“This important upgrade is designed to build safer travel connections for motorists between Gillies Street to Link Road,” he said.
“As Ballarat continues to grow, we need to be able to accommodate the transport needs of our growing region both now and into the future.”
The four-way intersection has long been a crash hot spot, with two cars colliding at the site as recently as early January.
