Despite being promised at the 2018 state election by the Andrew’s Government, Ballarat’s 1000 new car parks are still a long way from reality.
There’s been some extra spaces delivered at the Eastern Oval and White Flat however planning continues on up to 4 multi-deck parks.
Council CEO Evan King says its important the state government gets the planning right rather than rushing.
“If you’re going to be building multi-deck car parks, I think it’s important that you actually do the due diligence to understand where the best location is.”
“These will be in the city forever in the end and we want to make sure they are in the right place, and they service the community appropriately,” Mr. King said.
Sites previously earmarked for multi-deck car parks include Ballarat Base Hospital, Federation University SMB Campus, Little Bridge Street shopping precinct and Anderson Street West.
