Expect longer than average wait times as ED pressure in Ballarat grows

Locals presenting to Ballarat Base Hospital’s emergency department today may experience longer wait times, as pressure on the ED grows.

A source from the hospital said yesterday morning 37 patients had been admitted to the local emergency department.

Grampians Health’s Ben Kelly says similar pressure is currently being experienced across the state at other hospitals.

“We thank our staff for doing everything they can to limit wait times,” Mr. Kelly said.

To help ease the pressure the hospital suggests making an appointment with your local GP, telehealth or visiting the Priority Primary Care Centre if you don’t need time-sensitive emergency care.
