Delays to project at former Ballarat orphanage defended

Deputy Mayor of Ballarat, Peter Eddy, has defended the amount of time it’s taken to create a place of contemplation at the city’s old orphanage site.

Over its lifetime, the former orphanage on Victoria Street housed more that 4,500 children.

There’s been recent community concerns the project had stalled, however councillor Eddy says work on the project continues.

“Former people from the orphanage have actually been actively engaged during the process, and also the developers of that area,” he said.
