Call for locals to help stamp out illegal tobacco trade

Ballarat police have urged the community and tobacco shop owners to play their part in stamping out illegal trade.

It comes as Taskforce Lunar landed numerous arrests across regional Victoria last week.

Superintendent Sussan Thomas says a Mount Clear investigation remains ongoing.

“We are focusing on all tobacco stores, not just in Ballarat or [in] the Bacchus Marsh area, but right across the state,” she said.

“[We] definitely need [the] community participation in this as well.”
