Rebuilding scorched and destroyed fences following recent fires in the Grampians and to the north-west of Ballarat will be the focus of a specialised charity.

Blaze Aid rely on donations and volunteer power to rebuild farm fences which normally cost about $18,000 a kilometre on average.

The organisations CEO Melissa Jones says they’re setting up two base camps, one in Halls Gap and the other close to the Bayindeen fireground in Buangor.

“So, we’ve got a base-camp that we’re establishing in Buangor, that’s going to be at the Cob and Co Rec Centre area.”

“Council and also the Committee of Management have been so wonderful to let us in and to get us started,” Ms. Jones said.
