Local Ballarat resident Neil Para will start his 1,000 kilometre walk for freedom today, raising awareness of refugees in the country stuck in limbo.

Neil, who has lived with his family in Australia for 11 years, is one of thousands of refugees in the country waiting for a permanent visa.

Mr. Para will walk from the office of Ballarat MP Catherine King this morning and will trek to the PM’s office in Sydney, arriving in September.
