With the amount of new maintenance requests coming in every week, the City of Ballarat is struggling to get on top of fixing our crumbling roads.
Back in early January there were 731 jobs outstanding, as of last week there were 681, a reduction of just 50.
Cr Mark Harris has defended the pace of the works.
“We’ve got a very vulnerable road system the way that we build them, and we’ve got a lot of it.”
“We imagine we’re a city council but we’re a city and regional one, we’ve got more than 1000 kilometres of sealed road and a third more in un-sealed road, it’s a lot to look after,” Cr. Harris said.
Between February 27 and March 3 council crews completed 26 jobs leaving 681 outstanding. 77 new jobs were received from the public.
