Another Ballarat councillor has come out in support of a proposed 7 storey residential building which includes a hotel and 5 storey office block for Ballarat’s CBD.
The application from Nigro Group P/L could potentially be built across more than 3600 square metres of land between Lydiard Street North and Mair Street.
Cr Ben Taylor says the development can respect our heritage.
“Let’s have a look what’s there at the moment, which is not much, it’s not heritage there at the moment.”
“We’ve got to look at how we adapt as a city, we can’t just say well because that’s been there for 50 years it’s heritage, it used to be an old car yard.”
“We’ve got to look at what re-use we can use for it, that planning was done over 10 years ago with the masterplan which showed that this is the type of building that should go along that area,” Cr. Taylor said.
Ballarat’s Mayor Cr Des Hudson also telling Radio Ballarat this week that he likes the proposal.
