And from today, Ballarat can now officially add Marathon to its Commonwealth Games itinerary.

A swag of goodies has been announced for our region in preparation for the 2026 games, and not just for the 10 day event.

Mars Stadium will be upgraded to the tune of $150 million with 5,000 permanent new seats, the Ballarat Saleyards will be converted to an Athletes Village to house 1800 athletes and officials, and the Ballarat Train station will get a $50 million ‘historically sensitive’ upgrade with passenger lifts on both platforms and a connecting pedestrian overpass.
