Mackenzie Arnold’s Iconic Matildas Jersey Sells Out in Record Time

During the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nike came under serious fire as fans realised that Mackenzie Arnold’s now iconic goalkeeper jersey was unable to be purchased following her standout performance in the Matildas’ ground breaking World Cup journey.

Nike had promised to make the jerseys available before the next major tournament.

The highly anticipated launch took place on Tuesday, 27th February, at noon on the Football Australia website, only for the jersey to sell out in less than 5 minutes and is no longer on the website.

The official social media page for the Matildas shared a message for fans who missed out on the jersey on X.

For fans heading to Wednesday night’s Olympic Games qualifying second leg against Uzbekistan at Marvel Stadium, don’t worry – jerseys will be available for purchase at the ground.

The famous purple Matildas goalkeeper jerseys will be hitting the shelves at Rebel and Ultra Football stores starting this Wednesday!

There will also be a “limited re-stock” will also be online this Friday at 12pm AEDT!

Expressing her gratitude, Arnold said, “The incredible support we, as goalkeepers, have received from our fans over the past year has been truly remarkable.”

Reflecting on her career to far, Arnold shared, “As a young athlete, the idea of making a living as a goalkeeper didn’t even cross my mind.”

She added, “It’s a testament to the great strides in our sport that the next generation of goalkeepers will see fans proudly sporting our jerseys in the stands.”

The Matildas are currently preparing to take on Uzbekistan in their final Olympic qualifier.

The game at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Wednesday marks the 12th consecutive home sell-out for the Tillies.
