Police operation continues to clampdown on hoon drivers

Ballarat’s clampdown on hoon driving is set to continue through Operation Shadow.

Recent surveys from police show that dangerous driving is one of the public’s greatest concerns.

Acting Superintendent, Ben Young, says the bad behaviour is often performed right in front of his officers.

“There were 53 infringements issued as part of the operation, but more concerning was the fact that there were 7 vehicles impounded,” he said.

“Those impounds related predominantly to people who were prepared to do burnouts or what they refer to as ‘circle work’ in front of police at those times.”
