The City of Ballarat’s animal shelter remains closed for adoptions after a confirmed case and two suspected cases of parvovirus last week.
The suspected cases have now tested negative.
Council had hoped to reopen the facility today; however, it now says they’re still working through infection control procedures.

Parvovirus can be potentially fatal for dogs, humans cannot contract the virus, but they can carry and spread it.
It’s hoped the shelter can re-open for adoptions this Friday however in the meantime no members of the public should present to the shelter.
