Work is underway on a new Ballarat roundabout, aiming to ease congestion in the city’s west.

700 vehicles use the intersection at Dyson Drive and Ballarat-Carngham Road every hour during peak times, with the figure expected to grow 60 per cent by 2041.

Crews are undertaking major works at the intersection, including installing traffic islands, upgrades to pavement and asphalting.

The new roundabout will be funded through the State Government’s $60 million Keeping Ballarat Moving program, with upgrades now complete at another five intersections in Ballarat.

In a statement, Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Melissa Horne, said as the city grows, they’re delivering more road upgrades to ensure residents can get where they need to go quicker and more safely.
