New campaign launched to address Ballarat’s alarming obesity rates

New data from Murdoch University show’s a large chunk of the Ballarat population simply needs to move more.

It found 62% of men and 43% of women are overweight or obese, whilst 36% have mental ill-health.

“We want people to start exercising and moving, they don’t have to go to a gym, they don’t have to do anything they feel uncomfortable with.”

“My attitude is if you don’t like exercise, you are choosing the wrong exercise,” Mr. Elvish said.

To help address the weighty problem the Million Moves program has been launched by the City of Ballarat encouraging locals to pledge 75 daily moves across 21 days in September.
