A Ballarat man has been arrested after he was allegedly found driving unlicensed and with stolen plates on Monday afternoon.

Police stopped the Nissan Patrol in Elsworth Street West, with further investigation revealing the front and rear registration plates were different from each other and allegedly reported stolen by their owners.

A search of the car also uncovered an iPad, which police allege is suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
