The state government has today ramped up its support for drought ravaged farmers and offered some short-term tax relief for the ag sector.
The drought package has now been extended statewide with an extra $37.7 million in funding added.
Spring Street has also announced today that it will freeze the unpopular new Emergency Services and Volunteer Fund levy at the current rate for one year for farmers.
However, Western Victorian Liberal MP Joe McCracken says the government’s decision is simply a short-term band-aid on a long-term wound.
Ballarat will have a local voice on the Drought Response Taskforce announced today with the Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle involved.
Ms. Settle is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria.
