The Rail, Tram and Bus Union are warning V/Line industrial action tomorrow morning may impact Taylor Swift fans travelling from Ballarat to Melbourne.

Conductors, train controllers, customer service staff, station staff and authorised officers will walk off the job between 3am and 7am, bringing the network to a halt.

With knock-on effects to services across the day, Branch Secretary for the union, Vik Sharma, says people who were planning to travel by V/Line are encouraged to consider alternative travel arrangements if they can.

He says it’s extremely disappointing V/Line workers are being forced to take industrial action to get their concerns taken seriously.

The warning comes despite the Department of Transport and Planning announcing additional train services or trains with extra capacity will run to and from Southern Cross Station on the Ballarat line tomorrow.

In a statement, V/Line Chief Executive Officer, Matt Carrick, said he wants to assure passengers heading to the Taylor Swift concert that services are expected to return to normal by Friday afternoon.

He says passengers are advised to plan their journeys through the V/Line website and encourage people to allow extra travel time.
