Disability advocate helping to make Ballarat events more inclusive

A local disability advocate is helping to make events like Ballarat’s International Foto Biennale more inclusive.

Heidi Biggin, who is legally blind, is working with writers to make sure descriptions of images are accurate for those with vision issues.

Heidi says her life experience is assisting their work.

“The team of writers are coming up with audio and visual description of the art to describe to blind or low vision people,” she said.

“I’m going through the editing process and letting them know the tips, the tricks [and] how it could be done a bit better.”
