The CEO of the City of Ballarat has admitted council needs to better manage its major projects.
At a meeting last week, local councillors agreed to another $4.7 million to complete the Bridge Mall redevelopment.
The extra funding is on top of the millions more required to finish Her Majesty’s Theatre upgrades.

Evan King says older assets often present challenges.
“We need to get better at our project management, [and] we need to try and determine the most accurate costs for those projects,” he said.
“The challenge you’ve got when you’re dealing with historical assets like that [is] you find significant latent conditions, and some of them you can’t actually determine until you start the work.”
