A pleasing back-flip from Ballarat City Council has come to light today after a community and media push.

Organisers of the Buninyong Christmas Carols, which have been cancelled for the last two years, had been told that they wouldn’t be able to use De Soza Park because it was too wet.

The premature decision made despite Spilt Milk being allowed to go ahead this Saturday in Victoria Park in front of 30,000 fans.

“City of Ballarat is pleased to confirm that the Buninyong Christmas Carols can be held at De Soza Park this year and we will make contact with the event organiser to relay this information,” said Natalie Robertson, Director of Development & Growth.

“At the time of the event application the grounds were considered not suitable due to wet conditions, however the City of Ballarat’s parks and gardens team have been monitoring the state of the ground and have confirmed today that the conditions are suitable,” she said.

The Carols are scheduled for December 10th.
