For the third year in a row the Ballarat Football Netball League has chosen to hold its grand finals at City Oval rather than Mars Stadium.
Mars, the city’s premier football facility, has sat idle on the final day of the final’s series for the last two years now, initially because of a row over bar takings.
League Chairman Rob Simmonds says construction work this year has forced their hand.
“We’ve had some great discussion with the City of Ballarat and we have intention of working with them to eventually get back to Mars Stadium.”
“Whether that’s 2026 or 2027, there’s obviously a lot of construction going on there and some things to work through,” Mr. Simmonds said.
Meantime, the league’s best under-23 players will take on Hampden in an interleague clash this Saturday from 2.30pm at Mars Stadium.
Ballarat were victors by 16 points in the same clash twelve months ago.
