Bandidos member arrested at Ballan West service station

A gang member has been picked up in the Ballarat region over a Fitzroy nightclub assault.

The 29-year-old Weir Views man was arrested at a Ballan West service station at 6.20 Wednesday morning.

The patched Bandidos member has been charged for threatening and assaulting police at a nightclub on Brunswick Street earlier this month, amongst other charges.

The charges follow an incident at approximately 2.30am on Sunday 2 October. Police will allege an associate of the man attempted to stab members of staff at a licensed venue on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy.

When attending police were arresting the man, the 29-year-old Weir Views man allegedly became aggressive towards police, attempting to provoke them into a physical altercation and threating to bite their noses off.

He was given a direction to move on, and as he walked away, he began throwing objects – including glass bottles – at police members.

His charges include reckless conduct endangering person/serious injury, threat to inflict serious injury, assault police, hinder police, possess prohibited weapon, three counts of possess cannabis and discharge missile.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 15 March, 2023.
