Ballarat disability advocate Heidi Biggin has become the first legally blind person to appear on TV game show Deal or No Deal.
Heidi’s episode went to air on Channel 10 on Monday night seeing her win a cool $19,000 pay-day to share with her guide dog Freya.
Heidi says it’s important to normalise seeing people with a disability on television and in life.
“That’s exactly what I’m trying to achieve, normalising.”
“People don’t blink an eye at Freya anymore and it’s so good, I’m getting stopped in the supermarket a little bit less, she’s just part of the furniture and I absolutely love that,” Ms. Biggin said.
Heidi’s other recent achievements include expanding a public bus route in Lucas and driving the creation of a guide dog relieving station in Ballarat’s CBD.
