The Moorabool and Central Highlands Power Alliance are appealing a Supreme Court decision to allow the fast tracking of controversial transmission line projects VNI West and the Western Renewables Link.

The Link is a proposed 190-kilometre overhead high-voltage electricity transmission line through Western Victoria.

The line will connect to the proposed 500 kilovolt VNI West transmission line at Bulgana.

In December last year, the court ruled against the group’s claim that ministerial fast-tracking orders for the two projects were invalid.

On Friday, the alliance submit an application to the Court of Appeal, saying in a statement their legal counsel have identified compelling grounds for appeal.

They say it’s a crucial stand against the Government’s self-appointed decree for these projects to proceed.
