Over 260 people have signed a petition, calling on the City of Ballarat to restore funding to local environmental group BREAZE.

The city tore up a three-year, $285,000 City Partnerships funding agreement in February over alleged comments made by a then BREAZE member online.

The petition was received by councilors at Wednesday’s monthly council meeting, with City of Ballarat Mayor Tracey Hargreaves saying a process needs to be worked through.

“These things take time.”

“We do keep hearing that community concern and sentiment, and I just want to assure everyone that we would love to see this come to a resolution as well, but there is a process that has to take place,” Mayor Hargreaves said.
