Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following an aggravated burglary and kidnapping in Alfredton earlier this month.
Emergency services were initially called to a report of an altercation between a man and a woman outside a residential property about 12.30am on October 4th.
The pair then left the property on foot.
The 27-year-old Alfredton woman was subsequently located at the same address shortly before 6.15am that same morning.
She was not physically injured.
A search for the 32-year-old Lake Gardens man allegedly involved in the incident has taken place since that date.
At 2.45pm on Wednesday, an off-duty police officer recognised the man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the Delacombe area.
Local police were called, and the man was intercepted in the car park of the town centre and taken into custody.
A search of his car located what appear to be drugs of dependence.
He has since been charged with kidnapping, aggravated burglary, criminal damage, false imprisonment, common law assault and possessing a drug of dependence.
The man was remanded overnight and appeared at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court this morning
Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.
