Ballarat urged to do more to support accessible tourism

The boss of Spinal Life Australia has urged Ballarat’s tourism sector to do more to support accessible tourism.

New data shows accessible tourism is valued at $29 billion, but infrastructure remains ill-equipped and limited.

Mark Townend says local tourism operators should be thinking of ways to get their slice of the pie.

“20 per cent of the population of Australia identifies as having some type of disability, so there’s a huge section there” he said.

“Plus, as we are all getting older, mobility is going to be a harder problem to solve.”
