During October one2one Church of Christ Ballarat will occupy The Unicorn Collection, the street-front pop-up space at 129–131 Sturt Street, to present an exhibition of work by members of its community.
The month-long display will feature paintings, drawings, woodwork, textiles and mixed-media pieces by 10-plus local creators. Works will be offered at accessible prices, with proceeds supporting the church’s mission partners in Indonesia, which equip students for community ministry across the archipelago.
“Our October residency helps promote the artists within our one2one church community as well as directly assisting student pastors in Indonesia,” notes Keith Sanders, who’s spearheading the initiative. “We’re excited to see how Ballarat responds to collection.”
Sanders, a self-taught artist with a background in commercial illustration and design, is contributing original works and prints, including illustrations previously used by the National Trust and a drawing of ancient olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Other participants bring skills in oils, acrylics, sketching, woodwork and textiles.
The Unicorn Collection is an initiative of Ballarat Evolve Creative Industries Inc., providing a flexible, accessible CBD space specifically for local makers and artists. one2one’s exhibition continues a pattern of community groups using the venue to share creative work with the public.
The display opens on 2 October and runs throughout the month.
Opening times: Monday-Friday 9:30-5. Saturday 10-4. Sunday 11-4.
