CHFL Junior Best & Fairest Night

The Victorian State Government's further easing of restrictions couldn't have come at a better time for the Central Highlands Football League Juniors.

The CHFL Junior season night of nights, the Best & Fairest 2021, was held last Friday night before around 100 people (Yes, in the flesh) at the Ballarat Trotting Club.

In a season upset by Covid lockdowns and restrictions, with some clubs pulling junior teams out of this years competition and no opportunity to play a finals series let alone a Grand Final, it was great to see players, coaches and committee members get together to aknowledge this years best and fairest.

Congratulations to Lachlan Reynolds from Gordon who was the U/18 leading goal kicker for the season with 49 majors and Samuel Battistella from Buninyong lead the way in the U/15's with 56 goals for the year.

Kicking 56 goals for the season paved the way for Samuel to win the U/15 CHFL Best & Fairest with 33 votes just ahead of runner up, James Rienetts from Springbank with 30 votes.

The U/18 B&F followed and voting was even closer.

Justin Butler from Springbank was voted 2021 CHFL Junior B&F with 19 votes just two clear from runner up Hunter McDonald from Rokewood Corindhap with 17 votes.

In the end, in a Covid ravaged season, anyone involved in the league were the winners given the hoops they had to jump through to get as far as they did in season 2021.

Here's looking forward to a full home/away season, finals series and Grand Final Day in 2022.
