Today is National Doughnut Day or National Donut Day (how ever you want to spell it) and I'm super excited!
I mean, how can you not like donuts?
It's delicious fried dough topped of with yummy glazing, or filled with creamy "custardy" goodness, and sprinkled with all types of great sugary delights, so many different donuts to eat, YUM!
And today we celebrate it.
- National Doughnut Day is held on the first Friday of June every year
- National Doughnut Day was created back in 1938
- It was a fund raiser for Chicago's The Salvation Army
- Their wanted to help those in need during the Great Depression, and to honour The Salvation Army "Lassies" of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers
Many places around Ballarat are celebrating (and you never know, you might get a free donut or two):
