You've saved up for a house. The plans are in. The builders are on sight. It's finally completed. Or so you thought. You are now in shock because you are the proud owner of HALF a house. Sounds like a nightmare right! Well it's true and it happened in Sydney.
Nepalese man Bishnu Aryal, who now lives in Sydney, was left in shock after the home he had saved up for to be built , was half a home.
First he had purchased a block of land in Edmonson Park, then employed a company by the name of Zac Homes to build him a custom off-plan (worth $322,400 back in 2016)
Bishnu said that he trusted the builders to do their job.
But instead off having a beautiful big home at the end of the build, he got one cut in half.
Yes it did take 3 years for Bishnu to check the progress of the home and he couldn't believe that his house was not taking up the full block, but only half the block.
He told A Current Affair that, quote: “I called the supervisor and asked him what’s going on, why is the house like this? And he said “it’s a duplex, semi-duplex”, and I nearly fainted that day. Where’s my house? I want the rest of my house. It’s not a freestanding house, it’s not a duplex, it’s half a house. And it looks embarrassing.”
Zac Homes has come out and said that the build did start as a single freestanding home, but it was altered during the build due to something about Liverpool Council regulations (apparently the block had to be an attached dwelling), and that they had told Bishnu and his wife about the changes and that they were given the opportunity to pull out of the contract more than once.
