We caught up with Ballarat Federal Labor MP - Catherine King - who's just been named  Shadow Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Minister - and will be up against Deputy PM Michael McCormack.

It comes after six years in the Shadow Health portfolio.

The long-serving Ballarat MHR says being in Opposition is "frustrating" but it also carries the resposibility of blocking Government moves she believes are unreasonable.

We asked her what the new roles means for the people of Ballarat ...

And here's a clip of Catherine's pre-election visit to Her Majesty's Theatre, which was built in 1875 and is in need of repairs and improved disability access ...

New Opposition leader Anthony Albanese (second from right) was also in Ballarat before the May 18 election, promising improvements to the city's airport. Back in early May he held the position Ms King has now.
