First, I didn't know that VHS was making a comeback (like records), and two, I didn't know certain VHS movies were worth money.
If you feel like rummaging around your children's old VHS collection, keep an eye out for "special" Disney VHS tapes because they might be worth a small fortune.
Apparently, 90s nostalgia is at an all-time high, and this means, certain items like Disney flicks, are fetching big bucks!
eBay said that not long ago, a 1999 Special Edition copy of Mulan (in really good condition) sold for $21,111.
eBay also noted that other Disney classics have done quite well like Disney's Black Diamond editions that included Aladdin, Bambi and The Rescuers, seems they sold for $18,000,
The Little Mermaid (1990 VHS) scored its owner $15,000.
And a copy of Beauty and the Beast Black Diamond edition (from 1992) ended up costing one lucky new collector $9,999.
So there's couple of things you need to check before selling just any Disney Vid, look for:
- The 'Black Diamond Collection', turn the cover over to it's spine, and see if it has the black diamond logo, which says 'The Classics', these tapes are from 1984 to 1994
- Also keep an eye out for the slogan 'A Walt Disney Classic', this can be found printed on the tape, above the movie title
- And to make a mint, I am pretty sure these tapes and covers needs to look mint
