Researchers find more health benefits!
Nothing like a delicious morning pick me up from your favourite barista, and it’s been reported that coffee is also very good for heart health.
And now researchers are saying that coffee has another health benefit … apparently, it’s good for your brain!!
Studies have found a link between coffee drinkers and a reduced risk of dementia; your morning cup of coffee may help to protect you from both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
BUT … caffeine isn’t the reason – scientists found that dark roasted (in particular) caffeinated AND decaffeinated coffees have compounds known as phenylindanes, which are a product of the roasting, and they inhibit the two protein fragments, common in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, from clumping together.
More research is needed before alternative treatments are explored, but another reason (possibly) to enjoy your dark roasted caffeinated or decaffeinated brew!
