Ballarat footy umpires have agreed to take a pay cut to get junior football underway.

The Ballarat Football Umpires Association will supply umpires for the Central Highlands Football junior league with games getting underway this Saturday.

Last week the BFUA surveyed its umpires on their willingness to officiate for reduced pay and were
overwhelmed with the positive response.

"We had over eighty members put their hand up to take a pay cut, with some even willing to umpire
for free to support clubs and help develop our junior umpires," said BFUA Chair Justin Davey.
