A pilot program teaching Ballarat Police to help people experiencing a mental health crisis is being rolled out across the state this month.
Local officers joined in others from Mernda, Shepparton and Moorabbin in the trial last year and involved demonstrations, simulations, practical exercises and problem-based learning.
The program has been deemed as a success and will now be rolled out to all front line officers from this month,
The two day training is mandatory and will also also cover the effects of stigma, bias and stereotyping, the importance of family and friends, as well the options available within the mental health system.
