A man who lost his leg after an accident and was due to walk 50km around Lake Wendouree today (Tue) has completed just one lap, to find his car broken into.

Geoff Chandler says he was looking forward to catching up with friends as he walked the lake from 5am, but his excitement turned to heartache 50-minutes later when he stopped  in the St Patricks Point carpark for a drink.

The Limbs for Life Ambassador is raising money for the amputee charity by walking 400km across Victoria.

At the 216km mark, he's had to call it a day... for now.

Geoff has spent much of today talking with police, cancelling cards, re-applying for his licence, sourcing funds for new gear and getting his car fixed.
