Member for Western Victoria, Bev McArthur has taken aim at the state government over funding for Ballarat Community Health.
McArthur says the four Ballarat Community Health sites in Sebastopol, Lucas, Smythesdale and Wendouree are seeing an increased demand for their services, having provided over 6,500 immunisations this year alone, but are operating at a loss.
She says the service, which also has outreach services and clinics at a number of locations across the Central Highlands district, was not allocated a single dollar in this year's state budget.
McArthur put the question to state Health Minister Jenny Mikakos during Question Time last week, asking what is being done to address the funding shortfall in the community.
“I was shocked to learn that, while BCH is operating a very lean operation, with a growing demand for services, it is in deficit, having received zero additional dollars in the last budget — the last budget that was allegedly ‘Delivering for all Victorians’,” she said.
