The floral tram looks unlikely to return to the Begonia Festival for some years to come.
The multi-coloured tram was taken out of service after two days when it collided with a car doing a U-turn earlier this year.
The insurance company has agreed to repair the tram, which received major damage to its underframe after the crash.
It will head up to Bendigo to be repaired at the Bendigo Tramway Workshop, but will join a long list of other trams needing repairs.
Organisers of the Begonia Festival are hopeful that the tram could return to for the 2022 festival.
The festival won't be without a tram next year though, with the Melbourne Tramcar Preservation Association agreeing to provide one from their collection.
The Ballarat Tramway Museum has preserved the flower panels from the tram and have placed them in storage for the time being so they can be re-attached when the tram is repaired.
