Cardigan locals say they're not satisfied that slashing the speed limit will help make a dangerous intersection safer.
It was announced by the state government yesterday that the speed limit along Madden Road will be reduced to 60km/h from 80km/h in a bid to improve road safety.
The intersection has seen a number of crashes in recent years.
Residents say it would be wiser to install a roundabout at the intersection instead, as it would force drivers to slow down completely when approaching Remembrance Drive.
Their calls echo that of Councillor Daniel Moloney, who has long advocated for a roundabout to be installed at the intersection.
Rumble strips and additional signage will be installed at the Madden Road intersection in the coming weeks.
