Major delays on the Ballarat line yesterday afternoon caused major headaches for commuters.
A fault at Bacchus Marsh mid-afternoon affected the line in both directions yesterday that saw some services replaced by buses or cancelled altogether.
Travellers said they received little to no communication about the delays for over an hour, only adding to their frustration.
Services were restored shortly before 8pm, with V/Line saying the extended delays were the result of a number of unrelated incidents.
A spokesperson for V/Line says customers who were delayed by 60 minutes or more are eligile for compensation.
